As a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Baker and his colleagues' research on weight management has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals including:


Health Psychology, Behavior Therapy, The Behavior Therapist, and 

the International Journal of Obesity.


and has also been highlighted in several books, including (Dr. Baker's favorites):

  • Losing Control: How and Why People Fail at Self-Regulation (1994) 
  • The Nine Truths about Weight Loss (2001) 
  • The Prevention Get Thin, Get Young Plan (2001) 
  • 10 Steps to Your Perfect Weight (out of print but available if interested). 


Magazine articles regarding Dr. Baker's research has been as well as being highlighted in many newspapers and magazines such as:

Most importantly, these scientific findings have also been referenced in scientific journal articles including:


The New England Journal of Medicine, The Annual Review of Nutrition, and the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.


According to Google Scholar, three of Dr. Baker's research publications with his principal mentor, Dr. Daniel S. Kirschenbaum, along with a replication of one study by fellow co-authors, are referenced in more than 1, 250 peer reviewed articles, as well as numerous academic and self-help books.
